Brown Earns Tour's Second Exemption into Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper

Greensboro, NC – Scott Brown of North Augusta, SC, via his win at the Forest Oaks Classic, earned the second of two exemptions granted into the Nationwide Tour's prestigious Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

The exemption was one of two unrestricted exemptions granted to the eGolf Tour by the John Q. Hammons Foundation, the host organization for the Price Cutter Charity Championship. The first of the two exemptions went to Clint Jensen, winner of last week's Southern Open.

For Brown, the Nationwide Tour exemption marks the second one he has earned in 2009. In February of this year, the eGolf Tour was granted two exemptions into the Nationwide Tour's BMW Charity Pro-Am. Brown earned the first of those two coveted spots through his win at the Bushnell Championship in April.

"The biggest difference between out here and the Nationwide Tour is a freedom thing. Each one I play in, I'm getting more and more comfortable," said Brown.

Brown, like many players, frequently spends his Mondays trying to qualify for Nationwide Tour events each week. He has already played in four Nationwide Tour events this year, in part because of his first exemption.

Brown finished T44 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and earned $2,630, which was good enough to put him into the Nationwide Tour Players Cup – a tournament based on the tour's money list – a month later. At the Players Cup, the former USC-Aiken star finished T24, which in turn put him into the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic (top-25 finishers earn spots in the tour's next event). So, in a way, Brown received three exemptions via his first.

"I'm looking forward to playing in the tournament. I have an outside shot of getting in next week's Nationwide event, so hopefully I can do that and then get ready for the Price Cutter Charity Championship."

As part of his exemption, Brown will receive round-trip airfare to Springfield, MO, private housing for the week, and the opportunity to compete in up to five tournament pro-ams heading into tournament week – with each one paying him $350.

"Scott is one of our most consistent players and a threat to win each week on our tour," said tour chief operating officer Stewart Moore. "It won't surprise me in the least if he goes to Missouri and comes away with the title. He is that good."

The Price Cutter Charity Championship is one of the oldest and most well-respected events on the Nationwide Tour. The tournament has been contested at Highland Springs since it's inception in 1990, making it one of only two Nationwide Tour courses to host an event in each year of the tour's existence. The tournament has produced a number of PGA TOUR players, including TOUR winners Stewart Cink, Chris DiMarco and Pat Perez.

"The eGolf Tour has built a reputation as the best developmental tour in the country – one that many Nationwide Tour players go to during their off weeks. We feel that we are only adding to the quality of our field with this exemption," said Jerald Andrews, Executive Director of the Price Cutter Charity Championship.

The Price Cutter Charity Championship will be contested on August 13-16. For more information on the tournament and their 42 designated children's charities that it supports, please visit www.pricecuttercc.org.
