Charlotte, NC – eGolf Tour West announced today that it has been granted 10 exemptions into the 95th California State Open, to be contested at Morongo Golf Club (Champions) in Beaumont, CA on July 30 – August 2, 2014. The exemptions will be awarded to the top 10 members (not already exempt) who accumulate the most earnings over the next three eGolf Tour West events, starting with the Championship at PGA West on April 22-24, 2014.

The California State Open, which is expected to field a purse of $95,000, is one of the oldest and most prestigious state opens in the United States, with past champions such as Walter Hagen, Gene Littler, Lloyd Mangrum and Horton Smith among it’s list of winners.

Current eGolf Tour West money leader Michael McCabe won the tournament title in 2010, carding rounds of 64-66-74—204 to earn a wire-to-wire victory, in turn clipping Alex Aragon by two shots.

“We are thrilled to be granted these exemptions into such prestigious event,” said eGolf president David Siegel. “Over the past five years, we have eyed a number of avenues through which we could provide increased playing opportunities for our players. These 10 exemptions into the Cal State Open continue that trend, and continue to help solidify our tour’s footprint in the west.”

The top 10 members (not already exempt) will be awarded the exemptions into event. The three eGolf West events that will count towards the cumulative money list will be the Championship at PGA West on April 22-24, the Avondale Open on May 7-9, and the Mountain View Classic on May 20-22.

The 2014 California State Open will be a 72-hole, stroke play event, contested over four days on Morongo’s demanding Champions Course. Following the conclusion of 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 52 players and ties for the final two rounds of play.
