eGolf Professional Tour Awarded TWO Exemptions Into Nationwide Tour's Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper
.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – December 2, 2009 – The eGolf Professional Tour announced today that they have been granted two unrestricted exemptions by the John Q. Hammons Foundation into the Nationwide Tour's Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper on August 12-15, 2010. The tournament is one of the oldest and most well-respected on the Nationwide Tour and has been contested at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield, MO since its inception in 1990.
The announcement comes on the heels of a 2009 season in which the eGolf Tour paid out over $4.4 million in prize money and was granted four exemptions into Nationwide Tour events.
In February of this year, the tour was awarded two exemptions into the BMW Charity Pro-Am, which were won by two-time winner Kyle Dobbs and 2009 leading money winner Scott Brown. In June, the tour was granted the first of two exemptions into the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, with the second coming in July. The first of those two exemptions went to Clint Jensen, while Brown captured the second following his victory at the Forest Oaks Classic.
"We were thrilled to extend our relationship with the Price Cutter Charity Championship," said eGolf Tour president David Siegel. "Jerald and his team run one of the Nationwide Tour's best tournaments, and it is a testament to the quality of our players that they would choose to award two exemptions to our tour for a second consecutive year."
The winner of each exemption will be put up in private housing for the week, will have their round-trip flight to Springfield, MO paid for and will have the option to compete in up to five local pro-am events from Saturday through Wednesday of tournament week, with each one paying the player an appearance fee.
"The eGolf Professional Tour has built a reputation as the best developmental tour in the country – one that many Nationwide Tour players go to during their off weeks. We feel that we are only adding to the quality of our field with these exemptions," said Jerald Andrews, executive director of the Price Cutter Charity Championship.
The exemptions will be tied into two of the tour's 2010 tournaments. More information on the structure of each exemption will be released shortly.
