Charlotte, NC – With the eyes of the golf world focused squarely on Charlotte, North Carolina and the prestigious Wells Fargo Championship last weekend, the eGolf Tour was well represented by former players in a hometown event. As venerable Quail Hollow Club shined on television, five eGolf Tour players notched top-10 finishes in what is annually known as one of the premier events on the PGA TOUR.

Leading the way for eGolf was 2009 tour player Martin Flores, who spent most of Sunday afternoon in contention after holding a share of the 36-hole lead following Friday’s second round. The former Oklahoma star bogeyed two of his first four holes in the final round before roaring back into contention with a dramatic eagle at the par-5 10th that took him to 13-under par overall.

Playing alongside eventual champion J.B. Holmes, Flores arrived at the 72nd hole two back of his playing partner, but could only muster a closing bogey for a final-round 72 – finishing the week at 12-under par, two shots back of Holmes in solo-third place.

Former eGolf Tour player Jason Bohn finished alone in fourth place at 11-under par after a disastrous double-bogey, bogey finish to his week, while Brendon de Jonge and Kevin Kisner tied for sixth at 9-under par.

De Jonge opened the week in his hometown with an 8-over 80, but then rallied back, carding an amazing 10-under 62 on Friday to make the cut, and weekend rounds of 68-69 to post 279. The finish marked his first top-10 of the 2013-2014 PGA TOUR season.

Kisner, a two-time winner on the eGolf Tour, played his way into Sunday’s penultimate twosome alongside Phil Mickelson after carding rounds of 72-66-68—206. The former University of Georgia standout pared his first eight holes in the final round to remain in early contention, but bogeyed Nos. 9 and 13 on his way to a 1-over 73.

Kevin Kisner

The T6 was Kisner’s first top-10 of the year in this, his third season on the PGA TOUR. Kisner played the eGolf Tour full time as a member from 2006 through 2009 before earning his Web.com Tour card at PGA TOUR Q-School in the fall of 2009. During his tenure on the eGolf Tour, the former Bulldog notched wins at the 2007 Match Play Championship and the 2008 Bermuda Run Open. In 2008, he finished third on the season-ending money list with an impressive seven top-6 finishes in just 14 starts.

The Aiken, SC native won the Web.com Tour’s Mylan Classic in 2010, spent 2011 and 2012 on the PGA TOUR before losing his card, then won the Chile Classic in 2013 en route to earning status for the 2013-14 TOUR season.

Five-time eGolf Tour winner Roberto Castro finished tied for eighth at Quail Hollow with rounds of 71-70-69-70—280 (8-under) – one of just three players in the field to post all four rounds under par (Holmes, Justin Rose).

The former Georgia Tech star had a rollercoaster of a 2-under 70 on day four, recording seven birdies and five bogeys – including late bogeys on 16 and 18 to drop out of the top five.

Other eGolf Tour players to make the cut at Quail Hollow include Kevin Chappell (T11), Michael Thompson (T11), Jason Kokrak (T23), Wes Roach (T23), Scott Brown (T30), Chris Kirk (T30), Scott Langley (T38), Ted Potter (T50), Ben Martin (T50), Daniel Summerhays (T55), Josh Teater (T57), Cameron Tringale (T60), Brian Harman (T65), Justin Hicks (T69) and Jim Renner (T69).
