Charlotte, NC – Two-year eGolf Tour member Zack Sucher of Birmingham, AL locked up his 2014-15 PGA TOUR card on Sunday, posting a final-round 72 at the Web.com Tour’s Midwest Classic to claim his first tour title, all while moving up to No. 4 on the tour’s money list with $247,318 in season-long earnings.

Sucher entered Sunday’s final round at host Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in suburban Kansas City on the heels of a 66-63-64—193 (-20) start to his week. In possession of a three-shot lead over playing partner Aaron Watkins, the affable Sucher went out to try and claim career win No. 1 on the PGA TOUR’s developmental circuit, and wound up surviving a difficult and blustery day on his way to doing so.

“I saw the forecast last night and the wind was going to be in the opposite direction than it had been all week,” said Sucher. “We saw that wind on Wednesday and it makes almost every hole play harder.”

Sucher’s Sunday began in less-than-ideal fashion with bogeys on his first two holes dropping him to 2-over for the day and 18-under for the week. The 27-year-old rallied with a birdie at the third, then pared his final six holes to turn at 1-over 36 – still two shots clear of Watkins.

That two-shot cushion evaporated quickly on the back nine, as back-to-back bogeys on 10 and 11 put him tied for the lead with Watkins at 17-under par with seven holes to play. But Sucher reclaimed his lead with three birdies over a four-hole stretch playing with a favorable wind to move back to -19 for the week, again two clear of his playing partner with two holes to play.

When Sucher pared his final two holes, he was left with a final-round 72 and a three-shot win over Watkins. Most importantly, he was in possession of a check for $108,000 which easily locked up his job for the next year, although on a much higher platform.

“I wish I could have made it easy on myself early,” said Sucher. “This is incredible. This means a lot for me for the rest of the year and a lot for next year, too.”

After missing two of his first three cuts of the year on the Web.com Tour, Sucher has played some of the most consistent golf of his life over the past four months. The former UAB star notched a T5 at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open in March, then earned a solo-sixth-place finish at the BMW Charity Pro-Am in May. Since missing the cut at the Cleveland Open in June, Sucher has posted five top-20 finishes in a six-tournament span – including yesterday’s win.

“I played really well last week and didn’t get it done the last two days,” said Sucher, referring to weekend struggles at the Albertsons Boise Open. “I’m headed to the PGA TOUR and now I can finally stop worrying about it.”

Sucher competed on the eGolf Tour from 2009 through 2013, and as a full tour member in both 2010 and 2012. Over that stretch, he posted four top-10s including a career-best T3 at the 2012 Championship at Star Fort. Sucher played three times on the eGolf Tour in 2013, recording top-25 finishes at the Irish Creek Classic (T19), the Championship at St. James (T22) and the Sedgefield Classic (T22).

Jonathan Randolph of Brandon, MS, who posted a T2 finish at the eGolf Tour’s 2013 NorthStone Open, notched a solo-fourth-place effort on Sunday with a bogey-free 67 that pushed him 11 spots up the leaderboard.

Former eGolf Tour member Derek Fathauer continued his solid play of late with a solo-fifth-place finish, thanks to rounds of 66-70-66-69—271.

The former PGA TOUR member has had his best season to date on the Web.com Tour this year, recording five top-10 finishes – including a playoff loss at the Nova Scotia Open earlier this month – en route to an 11th-place standing on the tour’s money list.

The 28-year-old spent 2010 and 2011 on the eGolf Tour, collecting five top-10s and a career-best, runner-up effort at the El Jadida Classic in Morocco.

eGolf Tour players making the weekend in Kansas include Andres Gonzales (T6), Kyle Reifers (T6), Aron Price (T6), Nick Rousey (T11), Harold Varner III (T17), Dawie Van der Walt (T22), Darron Stiles (T24), Nathan Tyler (T24), Andrew Putnam (T24), Kyle Thompson (T24), Steve LeBrun (T24), Luke List (T24), James Sacheck (T24), Scott Harrington (T34), Jin Park (T34), Wil Collins (T34), Henrik Norlander (T41), Chris Wilson (T41), Matt Davidson (T41), Tom Gillis (T41), Roger Sloan (T41), Steven Fox (T49), Jerod Turner (T54), Camilo Benedetti (T58), Josh Anderson (T58), Roberto Diaz (63), Mackenzie Hughes (T64), Aaron Goldberg (T64), Ryan Sullivan (67), Neil Johnson (T68) and James Nitties (72). • At the PGA TOUR’s RBC Canadian Open, two-time eGolf Tour winner Justin Hicks locked up a career-best, third-place finish with rounds of 66-67-70-64—267 (-13), finishing four shots behind come-from-behind winner Tim Clark. The finish pushed Hicks over $1.2 million in season-long earnings, and up to No. 57 in the FedExCup points race. While the third-place finish was just his second top-10 of the year, it marked his sixth top-25 during a 2013-14 campaign in which he has displayed consistency that was missing in two prior stint’s on golf’s biggest stage. Two-time eGolf Tour winner Kevin Kisner and former member Brad Fritsch collected a pair of T9 finishes at host Royal Montreal Golf Club on Sunday, matching final-round, bogey-free 64s to each move 19 spots up the leaderboard. Other eGolf Tour players to make the cut include Jamie Lovemark (T12), Kevin Chappell (T20), Matt Bettencourt (T20), Scott Brown (T20), William McGirt (T25), Russell Knox (T29), Steve Marino (T29), Eric Axley (T34), Roberto Castro (T34), Morgan Hoffmann (T43), Joel Dahmen (T53), Edward Loar (T53) and Josh Teater (T66).
